Production Walkthrough with Producer Eric
How do you make rural Thailand pass for suburban North America?
Mbrella Films Producers Eric and Legyaan take you behind the scenes of our production of Mammotion’s Yuka Mini 2.0 robot lawn mower commercial.
We serviced a director and producer from Vietnam for a two-day shoot in Khao Yai. The team was about 80 crew, working across two rented houses. Eric and Legyaan explain:
- Location: why Khao Yai’s mix of architecture can stand in for American, Canadian or European towns, down to the white picket fences
- Art department: letting the lawn grow out for the “before” shots, repaving a driveway with tarmac for an American look, and building walls and furniture from scratch
- Casting: finding Western talent that fits a North American audience, using our database of international talent based in Thailand
- Permits: how filming and work permits for commercials in Thailand come through in two weeks at most
