Fabijoniskes District
Fabijoniskes district located in the northern part of Vilnius, is one of the newest districts of Vilnius, built in the late 1980s to early 1990s. The village was the production site of the HBO miniseries “Chernobyl” during filming in 2018, where the district was used to portray the city of Pripyat.
Lukiskes Prison
Lukiskes Prison, which closed in 2019, is today used for filming and cultural events. Near the center of Vilnius, its cells and grounds were used in the fourth season of “Stranger Things” for almost half of the season where Hopper’s storyline in Siberia takes place.
Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant
The Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant was named after the nearby city of Ignalina. Due to the plant's similarities to the infamous Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in both reactor design and lack of a robust containment building, Lithuania agreed to close the plant. For this reason, “Chernobyl” an HBO mini-series, chose to be shot here in replacement of the real Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
Kaunas
Kaunas is the second largest city in Lithuania after Vilnius and an important center of Lithuanian economic, academic, and cultural life. The city contained historical buildings, churches, and medieval architecture around the city. “Clark” a film from Netflix and “Chernobyl” a mini-series from HBO were both shot here in this city.
