China Filming Locations

In Beijing, China’s capital with a population of over 20 million, lies the Temple of Heaven. This ancient architectural marvel was built under the reign of the Yongle Emperor of the Ming Dynasty who was also responsible for the construction of the Forbidden City. The temple is located in Dongcheng Beijing, south of the Forbidden City on the east side of Yongnei Dajie and was completed along with The Forbidden City in 1420. The design and layout of the temple is symbolic and has had a far reaching influence on architecture in the Far East over a number of centuries that followed its completion. Originally known as the temple of Heaven and Earth, it was later extended and renamed the Temple of Heaven in the 16th century during the reign of the Jiajing Emperor. The Great Wall of China is also just a short drive from Beijing.
