Poland Film Rebate for Film Productions

Poland provides a 30% rebate on film through the “Financial Support for Audiovisual Production” program. Though this incentive is some help for productions, it has many limitations. Firstly, there is a project limit of $3.6 million, which excludes big productions from enjoying the rebate fully. Secondly, Poland has stringent eligibility conditions, such as a cultural test, which may constrict the freedom of creative international filmmakers. Moreover, projects must undergo huge cost tests in Polish land and the application process is in need of the best timing because applications must be submitted no more than 12 months before production begins and at least upon the beginning of production.

Though Poland’s rebate appears enticing, these limitations can present barriers for global filmmakers seeking convenience and ease. Fortunately, Thailand has an alternative that is not only lucrative but also less restricted and with an expedited approval process.

Thailand Film Tax Rebate

Thailand’s “Film Incentive Measures” provide a distinct platform for overseas productions. Thailand has a sliding cash rebate scale starting at 15% on qualifying expenditure in excess of 50 million Thai Baht (approximately $1.4 million) and going up to 25% on productions in excess of 160 million Thai Baht (approximately $4.3 million). Moreover, Thailand offers other rebates that can add up to the total incentive to even higher—38%—for productions employing Thai nationals in key positions, promoting Thai tourism and soft power, or shooting in the Department of Tourism Designated Provinces.

Besides the cost advantage, Thailand is one of Asia’s most film-friendly nations. There is no cultural test in Thailand, which provides filmmakers complete freedom of expression. Permits are processed rapidly and efficiently, with official clearance within 10 days. And there is no cap on rebates per production, making productions of all shapes and sizes eligible for full benefit.

Thailand Filming Locations

Pine Forest

Pine forests in the northern region of Thailand blanket the mountains and hills, setting up a perfect backdrop and ambiance for any film production.

Western Houses

Unknown to many, western houses are located outside of Bangkok, ideal for filming. These houses are beautifully built, structurally sound, and mimic homes built in the West.

Studios

Bangkok is home to a multitude of studios, equipped with the latest equipment, sound systems, lights, and everything a production team needs. Filmmakers can easily find and rent a studio in Bangkok without traveling far to find one.

City

Bangkok’s bustling metropolis with neon-dotted cityscape sets the tone for any film production in the heart of the city. Meandering through the heart is the famed Chao Phraya River, perfect for capturing heartfelt and romantic scenes along the river boasting a rich backdrop showcasing Thailand’s icon temples and pagodas.

Islands

With over a thousand islands dotting Thailand’s rolling coastline and the Andaman Sea, each island has charm, mystery, and beauty. Towering, jagged cliffs remain untouched by human hands and serve as a home to the wild animals hiding within the rock crevasses or underwater schisms.

Beaches

Thailand’s sun-kissed beaches are second to none. Layered with soft, white, silky sand, crystal clear waters, and lush terrain, Thailand’s southern beaches serve as the ideal filming location for dramas, romantic comedies, and action and adventure films.

Mountains

North Thailand is home to impressive, lush mountain ranges. During winter months, Doi Inthanon and Doi Suthep are cloaked in a sea of fog and the grass is blanketed by dewdrops every morning.
